## BIG IDEAS
- Every particle has a corresponding antiparticle.
- When a particle and antiparticle meet, they annihilate each other, releasing energy (such as gamma rays).
- There is an asymmetry between the number of particles and antiparticles, known as baryon asymmetry.

In 1928, [[Paul Dirac]] predicted antiparticles.
The [[Positron|positron]], the antiparticle to the [[Electrons|electron]], was discovered in 1932 by Carl D. Anderson while working with cosmic rays.
When [[Matter|matter]] and antimatter interact then they annihilate into pure energy.
